Jazz Under the Stars--Vocal Edition
The last 'school' concert this year will be presented on Monday, June 1 in the lobby. It is called Jazz Under the Stars; Vocal Edition (although we will not be outside). Our featured guest group is the Jazz Lab Band at 7:00. The JazzChords of Calloway take the stage at 7:30. This will be a night of fabulous performances of jazz music. We expect many alumni to come and hear their 'old' choir.
Admission is free but we will gladly accept donations and there will be giveaway chances for donators. We will also have light refreshments for sale. We also will have a slideshow of previous JazzChords events.
Featured singers that night will be Stephen Piergrossi, Liz Richards, Dennis Conner, Alex Groff, Lily Ozer, Mike Hinkle and Tariq Jackson - with a special guest appearance by Dr. Carlton Cannon - although there will be many other singers with written and improvised solos. Chelsea Cox shoots a gold!

This past weekend, the day after the Prom, Chelsea competed in a the North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA) 119th Spring National, in the Artillery event in Winchester, VA. Her team came in first and all team members won gold medals.
N-SSA competition results are available at:

3rd Maryland Artillery fielded 3 cannon teams. Team #1 came in 8th; Team #2 came in 5th, and Team #3 (Chelsea's team) came in 1st!!
The North-South Skirmish Association (N-SSA) was formed in 1950 to commemorate the heroism of the men, of both sides, who fought in the American Civil War, 1861-1865. The N-SSA promotes the shooting of Civil War firearms and artillery and encourages the preservation and display of Civil War materials. The N-SSA works to accomplish these goals by conducting skirmishes; competitive, live firing of these Civil War firearms and artillery.

Help for After-Prom party?
The After Prom Committee stills needs additional help. If you are able to donate time or food (i.e. snacks).
We are in need of parent volunteers to assist with the After Prom. We need help with decorating, chaperoning and clean up. We also could still use any throw pillows that you are either willing to lend or wish to get rid of.
Please let us know if you are able to sign up for any of the following:
Decorating:
Right after school: 2:30 - 6:30.
This includes helping to unload the decorations from vehicles, decorating the foyer and other areas.
Second shift: 6:30 - 10:30. We really could use some assistance during this time since most of our committee volunteers have juniors or seniors attending the prom and may not be available until after 7:00.
This would include food table set up.
Chaperoning: 11:30 - 3:00
We have several areas that need help. This includes manning the food table, the give away table, the entrance and foyer, the movie areas, the dance area, and the theater. We will need some floaters.
Clean up immediately after from 3:00-4:00.
If you can only volunteer for a couple of hours, that would still be most helpful. We need at least 15 parents during the After Prom. Please let me know your availability by Monday, May 4th.
Thank you from the After Prom Committee.
