Several Cab Calloway students received special recognition on Saturday, April 24, at the Hispanic Community Awards Ceremony.
Theadora Cordero (12 grade): New Castle County Honorable Mention, Art
Jasmine Lopez (11th grade): New Castle County Art Award
Jacob A. Sackett-Sanders (12th grade): New Castle County Academic Award
Julia Melendez (12th grade): Honorable Mention, Female Hispanic Student of the Year. Julia also performed a jazz dance during the ceremony, to showcase the talents of Hispanic students.
Araidna Figueira (12th grade) was a nominated for the New Castle Country Art Award

Delaware Speech League results
Cab Calloway students participated in a Delaware Speech League Competition last Saturday, April 24, at Conrad Schools of Science, and took home the following awards:

Cab Calloway Spirit Night this Thursday!
Please join us this Thursday, April 29, for the "First-Ever Cab Calloway Spirit Night at Rita's Water Ice", hosted by Rita's located at 7313 Lancaster Pike, in Hockessin (near the PAL Center).
Come to Rita's between 6pm and 9:30pm to discover some of Cab's fabulous teachers scooping your water ice while you eat and enjoy listening to Cab's talented singers: the Imagination Players, CCSA Vocal majors and minors, H.S Musical Theatre Class and the Jazz Chords.
Special appearances will be made by some of Delaware's local pageant winners.
You will also have a chance to win one of our fabulous giveways!!
Cab Calloway will earn 20% of all profits made during this time, and all proceeds benefit enhancing the school lobby and upcoming projects.

Google recognizes Cab math students!
Congratulations to our top male and female math students in grades 11 and 12! They were honored by GOOGLE for their hard work and efforts! GOOGLE provided each student with a brand new laptop, carrying backpack, and software programs! Thanks to GOOGLE, we are thrilled to be able to provide these laptops to our students in recognition of their dedication to their studies! Congratulations to:

Congratulations to Collin Megee, a 6th grade student at Cab. Collin was selected for the Delaware Olympic Development Program for soccer. The Delaware ODP team consists of 20 players selected from soccer clubs and schools statewide. The team represents Delaware in the 1997 age group in Regional soccer competition.
Cab Calloway's Brandon Ross broke the school record in the 200 meter dash this past Saturday at the Keith Burgess Invitational track meet at Lake Forest High School. The former (Charter school) record for the 200 meter dash - 22.0 seconds; the NEW school record - 21.85 seconds.
The school record had not been broken since 1999. Brandon's name will now go on the track and field wall of fame until someone else takes a crack at it.

The University of Delaware History Department has selected Holly Franklin of Cab Calloway School of the Arts to receive their History Teacher of the Year award. This award, given annually to an outstanding Delaware history teacher, recognizes teaching excellence and contributions to the improvement of history instruction in the state.
Ms. Franklin was recognized the annual honors banquet on April 15th.
